Which GPS devices does RaceBuddy support?
RaceBuddy ONE, Dragy (and Dragy 69, Dragy 70, Dragy Pro), RaceBox.cc, RaceBox Mini, RaceBox Mini S, RaceBox Micro, and RaceHF. Connection is over Bluetooth — no adapters or cables.
Is RaceBuddy free?
The free tier is genuinely useful: full drag suite (0–60, 0–100, 60–100, 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, custom speed pairs, slope correction, density altitude), full lap timing with sectors and ideal lap, the AI Smart Garage, global leaderboards, HD rear-camera recording with default overlays, Laptimer overlay export at 1080p landscape with the default layout (Green Screen + Your Video), and demo mode. RaceBuddy ONE owners connect for free. Does RaceBuddy work with the phone’s built-in GPS?
No. Built-in phone GPS — on iPhone or Android — isn’t precise enough for drag or circuit timing. RaceBuddy requires a supported external GPS receiver. See the device list above.
Is there an Android version?
Yes — RaceBuddy is available on Google Play. Search for "RaceBuddy" or follow the Google Play link in the download section above.
What is RB Overlay?
RB Overlay is a separate companion app, currently iOS-only, for importing telemetry files — VBO, MoTeC, EMU, RCZ, RNZ, CSV — and rendering them as video overlays. The main RaceBuddy app does not import external telemetry files; if that’s what you need, search the App Store for "RaceBuddy Overlay" or follow the link in the Video section above.
How accurate are the Power & Torque numbers?
Calculations use your vehicle profile (weight, drivetrain loss, gearing, frontal area) and correct for slope, density altitude and rolling resistance. Treat the result as a comparable measurement, not a dyno replacement.
What does slope correction do?
It detects the height delta along your run and removes the gravity component from your acceleration so up- and down-slope runs are comparable. There’s also a standalone slope calculator at /tools/slope.
